Five wines under €19, each delivering well above their price segment. Rutger from Wijnadvies put the selection together — three whites (Avondale, Weingut Geil, Weingut Sutter), two reds (Skaap, Saint Jean d’Aumières) — and shipped them for tasting. Per bottle below, what they actually deliver.

Avondale Jonty’s Ducks Pekin White 2021 — South Africa, €16.95
Biodynamic estate from Paarl, run by Jonathan Grieve. The ducks patrolling the vineyards are part of real pest control, not marketing. Biodynamic white blend.
Bright pale yellow. Complex aromatics with depth on the nose. On the palate medium weight, remarkable texture, neither simple nor heavy. Develops in the glass as it opens up. Works with seafood pasta and summer white fish.
Skaap Wines Nathan 2018 — Stellenbosch, €17.99
Bordeaux-style red blend from Stellenbosch. In blind tasting I priced it at three times its actual price.
Deep purple-red. Abundant dark forest fruit on the nose. On the palate elegant soft tannins with remarkable length. Cellar potential easily 10+ years. At this price, putting a few bottles down is not a question.
Weingut Geil Weisser Burgunder trocken 2022 — Rheinhessen, €13.99
Dry Pinot Blanc from Rheinhessen. Bright pale yellow. Fresh, clean orchard fruit on the nose. On the palate perfect balance between freshness and body. Works with fish, asparagus, anything light and green. Approachable wine with serious layers under the surface.
Weingut Sutter Grüner Veltliner Alte Reben 2023 — Austria, €14.99
Grüner Veltliner from old vines (alte Reben). In blind tasting I priced it at well over double. Bright yellow, complex aromatic profile from the old-vine fruit. On the palate layered and refined. Pairs with white fish and poultry.
Saint Jean d’Aumières l’Alchimiste 2020 — Terrasses du Larzac, €18.99
Languedoc blend of Shiraz, Carignan and Grenache from the high AOC Terrasses du Larzac. Deep ruby. Nose of pepper, oriental spices, complex bouquet. On the palate structured and complex.
Asks to be decanted — two hours in carafe opens it fully. Pairs with game, braised red meat, robust stews.

Verdict
Five wines that each overdeliver in their price segment. The Skaap is for structure and cellar; Avondale and Sutter for drinkers wanting more complex white without Burgundian prices; the Geil for accessible quality; the Saint Jean for serious South-French red. All available via Wijnadvies, thanks to Rutger for the selection.
